The Real Federación de Española de Ciclismo (RFEC) (Royal Spanish Cycling Federation) has organized a concentration under the direction of Alejandro Valverde from Murcia in Altea from next Sunday, June 28th.
After the postponement of the Olympic Games, the 2020 national team is far from lost. Pascual Momparler, Spanish cycling coach, has his sights set on the next national team competitions. And dates like the European (August 24-28, still without headquarters) or the World Cup (September 20-27) will continue to take place.
Pascual explains to the newspaper AS: "The idea is that the national team should have the mind like other sports that are always in touch through qualifications etc. But when it comes to cycling, there are riders who come once and have not come back for years". Alejandro Valverde's team will therefore concentrate on Altea in this preparation.
Cyclists such as Luis León, Izagirre, Mikel Landa or Pello Bilbao regularly take part in the meeting. Cyclists with high chances of being part of the group will also concentrate on future appointments. We talk about cyclists like Carlos Barbero (NTT), Luis Ángel Maté (Cofidis) or Ángel Madrazo (Burgos) as well as young talents like Juan Pedro López, who are part of the World Tour with Trek at the age of 22.
