The Sierra Norte de Madrid on the north side of the Community of Madrid is characterized by a wide variety of landscapes and ecosystems, ranging from the highest peaks of the Sierra de Guadarrama and its glacial lake to the fertile Vega del Jarama. A remnant of nature, protected and preserved, with an authentic rural landscape connected to nature.
The CICLAMADRID MTB TOUR is a signposted route of 213 km through the Sierra Norte de Madrid. Through places of great natural and scenic value, such as the Sierra del Guadarrama National Park, the Sierra del Rincón Biosphere Reserve or the Vega del Jarama and Lozoya (Natura 2000 Network), a whole mosaic of ecosystems and landscapes that are so characteristic of the Sierra.
Immersed in their natural environment, the villages follow the route Rascafría, Lozoya, Montejo, La Hiruela, Patones ..., villages that are an example of rural mountain architecture in the Community of Madrid. There is also a rich historical and artistic heritage, such as the El Paular Monastery, three Villas in Madrid or the Neanderthal archaeological sites or Castro Dehesa de la Oliva.
Height and slopes are the hallmarks of mountain areas. The Ciclamadrid MTB Tour reaches an altitude of more than 1800 m., many of them more than 1500 m. boasting spectacular panoramic views over the Sierra and its valleys.
Almost the entire route is on forest paths and paths of comfortable width to cycle in excellent conditions. The route is generally moderately difficult because we are in a mountain area.
