Canal de Castilla: Alar del Rey – Valladolid

Description

"Enjoy this beautiful route with your MTB, constantly cycling along the Canal de Castilla from Palencia to Valladolid. It is a flat route of 150 km with an ascent of only 10 m. This route is in one-way, starting in Palencia and ending in Valladolid.

The bike route specifically starts in Alar del Rey, a town known as the birthplace of the Canal de Castilla. From here it is very difficult to get lost, due to the excellent signage and always along the canal. Pass communities like Herrera de Pisuerga and cross the river Pisuerga, Frómista and Grijota, where you can stop for a break.

The route is not too demanding, just long, so it can be done easily all year round. Of course, if you decide to cycle in summer, get up early to avoid the hottest hours. The best time is undoubtedly early or mid-autumn. Not only because of the temperatures, but also because of the beautiful spectacle that the foliage on the canal offers. "
